    The Bishop Gorman gymnasium hosted quite a crowd Thursday night. One of the Gorman basketball team’s first workouts of the year attracted a handful of college coaches. The bunch included UCLA coach Ben Howland, Memphis coach Josh Pastner, Utah coach Jim Boylen and Duke assistant Steve Wojciechowski.

  • Five Southeast teams part of the Sun's top 10 rankings
    One of the teams in this week’s high school football rankings will not make the postseason. Five schools from the Henderson-based Southeast Division are part of the Sun's 10-team rankings, and since only the top four finishers from each league make the playoffs, the regular season will be the end of the road for one quality program.

    Entering its contest against Virgin Valley on Friday night, Cedar City (Utah) had played two games and not given up a point. The Bulldogs managed to crack the vaunted defense a little, but ultimately fell 45-20 to the Redmen.

    T.J. Engle had a pair of touchdowns and nearly 300 yards of offense Friday night to lead the 2A classification Mountain View Christian School football team to a 36-25 victory against 4A Pahrump Valley.

    Despite committing four consecutive turnovers at one point, Boulder City bounced back to beat Mohave (Arizona) 21-15 Friday night.

  • Centennial improves to 2-0 with win against Green Valley
    Centennial wide receiver Najeem Popal caught a 55-yard touchdown from Cody Clark late in the third quarter to help the Bulldogs improve to 2-0 on the season with a 19-13 road victory over Green Valley on Friday night.

    Rancho High junior quarterback William Gosse-Gardet accounted for four touchdowns Friday night in leading the Rams to a 32-0 victory against host Sierra Vista.
